Classes Tought

An upbeat technique with lots of past energetic, and rhythmical movements. As pop music changes so does "jazz dancing".

The movements of tap are concentrated in the feet. Wearing shoes with metal taps, rhythms are sounded to a variety of music

A creative form of dancing designed to concentrate more on emotions and atmospheres in an attempt to arouse feelings in the audition.

A technical form of dancing with jumps, turns, and traveling steps. Ballet is often used as a way to tell a story using music and dance.

Lyrical jazz is a combination of ballet and jazz styles. Lyrical jazz is defined as an interpretation of the "lyrics" of the music.

At BSDA their younger students are introduced to ballet, tap, and acrobatic in "combination class". Students learn the discipline of ballet, the rhythm of tap, and the flexibility and strength of acrobatics.

Clothing and Shoes

Students are required to wear dance clothes to class. Leotards and tights can be worn in any style and any color. Students must also wear the appropriate dance shoes. Students enrolled in Combination Class will require both ballet and tap shoes.

Student attendance in class is very important. If your child will be missing class due to illness or other reasons, please let them know so they may inform your teacher. Unfortunately they do not offer make-up classes and tuition is non-refundable.

Class Viewing

Parents are always welcome to view their classes any time. They offer viewing both upstairs and downstairs in their lobby areas.

Their studio is closed for the following holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas break, Spring break, and Memorial Day. Please watch their newsletters for all the updates.

Tuition payments are due by the tenth of the month. A $10 late fee will be charged to all accounts not paid by the tenth of the month.

BSDA teachers are experienced, qualified, and certified teachers. Most of their faculty hold college degrees in Dance and are evaluated constantly. Teachers are available to answer your questions before and after class or by appointment if you choose.

They offer their students two performances opportunities during the year. Just before they close for the Christmas break their students will dance in a casual Open House performance for parents and friends. In June students are invited to perform in their annual Recital held at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Additional information about their recital is announced in their newsletter or packets available at the front desk. However, just about any day you will find their dancers performing for other classes or parents.
